On May 30th Twilight Isle suffered a tragic loss. From what this reporter understands there had been trouble with some very nasty monsters loose on the Isle for the last couple of weeks. Hunting parties had gone out to no avail in attempts to kill these flesh eaters.
The goblins that normally serve the patrons, that enjoy the ambience of the Isle when visiting to test their skill at dueling with magic there or come to watch the duels, had been kept locked-up when no one was there to see to their safety on Topaz's orders.
Apparently the Lady Kyndra reported for duty early on this particular night and Brigath, her fellow caller, decided to join in the hunt rather than call duels. It was a mistake that sadly I found out later that night, while in the midst of a duel of my own in Battlefield Park, cost him his very

life as the monsters overwhelmed this brave man and killed him in a vicious attack.
His remains were recovered by the rest of the hunting party and cremated that same night. It was said that the goblins howled mournfully while gathering the wood for the pyre and that Elijah assisted them in their sad task.
Not only was Brigath an official for the Duel of Magic but he was also a Mage of great skill and the current Keeper of the Tower of Air. He was charming and handsome and well liked by all those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Addendum June 6, 2006
Never let it be said that it is over until it is truly over in RhyDin faithful readers. I arrived on Twilight Isle for my Guest Appearance at the Mega Beach Bash Tournament to find none other than Brigath alive and well. You can read about that tournament right here folks in the sports section.
Mages have powers that this reporter does not understand fully and I am certain that it was some of these here that enabled him to withstand the deadly lich attack that caused it to appear that he had been lost for good.

On or about the afternoon of June 22, 2006 our very own Icer Shimmerscale was invovled in a bloody battle with a known killer black dragon. This dragon that Icer battled had already killed 2 others that she knows of she reported to me.
The fight was long and ferocious and did not end until both were battered, bloody, and severely injured. Icer reports that the only thing that finally enabled her to defeat this threat to all dragons was the black was knocked unconscious and got caught between two huge trees in the forest.
As far as she know she reports it is still lodged there and hopefully will remain so.

The black dragon now has a name. Red was wounded and hidden under a lake of pure metal and was somehow freed yesterday though one of his forelegs is wounded and as he puts it ... "it was that damn Icer's fault just because she won't leave her big snout out of my business!"
Then this reporter ran for the hills before getting some more out of him.
Red: "All I did was get rid of some unwanted scum that was keeping me from my goal." That was what he said before leaving due to certain circumstances that had to be dealt with.

With the increase in hiring non-union Leprechaun drivers for the three major carriage cab companies in RhyDin, the Carriage Cab Drivers Union is threatening to strike. Smaller cab outfits might be hurt more as they have not replaced union drivers in the numbers that the three major cab companies have.
Union officials have issued press releases stating that the membership has been asked to vote on a strike in the upcoming week and they seem hopeful in winning a strike.
The cab companies have countered with various statistics on increased labor costs (including an increase in the cost of hay), numerical increases in Leprechaun immigration,(funny how you never see them anywhere but in the cabs) and company policies on non-discriminatory hiring practices. Some of this seems bogus and further investigation is required.
Please investigate and report on what is really taking place. Rumors are abounding regarding Leprechaun pranks, the closing of cab companies, and a government conspiracy.

Rubbing the numbness and wood-grain impression from my cheek, I climbed off Eagle Eye's floor, snagged a towel from the roll, the half a sixer from the fridge and plopped down on the sofa to sort through the madness of my notepad.
The night before, it seems, the fourteenth of June, saw this reporter stumbling along RhyDin's darkened streets. Making my way from Dickey's Dirk and Dagger to the flagship of all taverns, the Red Dragon Inn.
Taking the time for some delicate business best planted outside and away from prying eyes, I leaned up from a hang off the Red Dragon's alleyway entrance to bear witness to a clash of seeming titans.
Keeping to the shadows, best to observe and cloak from unwanted attentions, this reporter watched a rather foul looking creature proselytize while fighting off nine who wished to do it harm. The creature was grey, large and looked very much like a werewolf.
Of the nine, one fought using shadows. A female with wings hell bent on destruction. Another, a male, fought with one of those nifty guns sold in Stars End, the kind that shoot bolts of light. He also brought a bullet-laden one to play to squash a few of the creature's counterparts who swarmed down the alley to join in the fray.
Needless to say, this reporter hid behind a well-placed dumpster and continued making notes.
At least three of the combatants this reporter recognized as associated with a very prominent Family. And that's Family with a capital F, dear readers, don't forget. One of them a tender at that very Red Dragon Inn we were all behind.
|
One of the Family, a rather tasty bit of work with pointed ears and an eye patch, seemed to be battling with the lead creature of the pack. Fists and claws flew between the two, and the male was giving as good as he got. Both bloodied and wounded.
There was a dragon, even, working the fight on the side of the nine against the werewolf-looking horde. Another werewolf-type, this one solid black and obviously with the nine, dropped from the roof line followed shortly by a fellow in strange armor. One this reporter has seen frequenting the Inn in a deep, dark corner.
Fairly soon it was hard to keep up with what was going on as someone seemed to fill the alleyway with replicas of themselves, swarming into the fight.
Blood, guts and gore painted the alley walls and ground. At a last attack from the tasty treat with the eye patch, the large grey leader grabbed at its throat and vanished from sight.
Dear readers, this reporter has no clue what the fight was about, who were the good guys and who were the bad, but I will tell you that interesting things have come to light about a certain Family around town. Their reputation doesn't seem as philanthropic as one would have you believe. They do seem, however, to garner fast allies against whatever their current targets are. Are there magics at work here? Some kind of domination of will at play? Are others being led to their maiming or slaughter to do the dirty work? Only time will tell, readers. Keep your eyes peeled for more as this reporter vows to ferret out all the juicy details!
As for myself? I fled the scene the moment the leader of the pack vanished. Straight over to Eagle Eye's for several gallons of therapy in the form of margaritas!

Some Say Pub Has Bad Atmosphere!
Not even Lord Jodiah Ayreg's acrid pipe smoke seems to be able to quench the thirst of late night RDI customers. However, the several RDI patrons shown here and many others are starting to collect signatures to ban Jodiah's pipe smoke to his Deep Dark Corner® with the installation of a special vent in their Save Our Inn Air efforts.

On June 2nd it was reported to me that Mishi Kira Jaiobi was the victim of a brutal assault by none other than Ryo Tosaga! Although the crying Mishi assured this reporter that she did not care that she had been tortured by Ryo she was left lying on the floor a bleeding mess from numerous places on her slender body after the vicious attack was over.
The exact reason for this attack is yet to be determined by the Watch however one source speculated it could have something to do with the death of Ryo's former love, the Mazoku demon Kibi Sarawatari Ayumi's death a few weeks back at the hands of Mishi's boyfriend, Snake Lionheart.
One has to wonder where the RhyDin Special Forces are spending their time these days as attacks on private citizens appear to be gaining in frequency rather than declining as would be expected with the number of city guards on the roster this reporter was able to acquire from the RhyDin Courthouse.
