Annual Spring Warlord Tournament
June 12, 2006

By TERA STARFARE

Pslyder and Shard did a heck of a job officiating the annual Spring Warlord's Tournament for the Duel of Sword's Warlords this year.

Fourteen Warlords stepped up to the plate this year for the top two prizes which were first place an uncontested shot at the Overlord and number two spot a shot at any Baron of their choosing.

The list of entrants was a who's who of Duelists from the sport! I'll give you their names in alphabetical order because this reporter would rather face them in the ring on a friendly footing if possible. Anubis, Chris, Cory, Delroy, Grayson, Harris, Kheldar Querylon, Rena, Skyler, Sylus, Ticallion, Vanion, Xerzes.

The dueling was fast and furious. Blood was flowing and bruises were plentiful!! Ribbing and jests and jokes and curses; all was going on. Not to mention plenty of drinking and cheering for their favorites as there was a huge crowd of fans as well this year.

There was a bit of trouble with the fans but it was nothing that couldn't be handled and in the interest of reporting the entire truth I should tell you, faithful readers, that this reporter was the cause of some of it as I got into a fight with one of the Warlords after they had been eliminated.

During Skyler's duel, I was cheering for Skyler to kill the lying pyro Vanion Shadowcast. This was in reference to another story that you can find right here

in The Oracle. After the duel Vanion approached me and spit in my face. I proceeded to cuss him in both common trade language and Elvish after that.

Things escalated and Anubis offered his protection to Dimitri and I which was greatly appreciated since my husband, Gavilean Starfare, did not arrive until later in the evening. Eventually Psly did step in and ended our altercation.

Things of note that happened during the tournament regarding the duels are:

Skyler went undefeated throughout the entire tournament and chose the Overlord challenge as his prize.

Harris won second place and deferred claiming his prize stating "Why? My track record with them is less than ... spotless."

Rena A Cronin came in third which gave her the shot at the Baron of her choice.

Anubis had two shut outs.

Chris Grazziano had to drop out in the second round so who knows what would have happened if he had been able to finish the tournament this year. He is the coordinator of the Duel of Swords and has a whole lot of experience in the sport.

Harris the Heckler, or the lunatic whichever you prefer, got the first by.

Sadly after the last duel Psly announced his retirement from officiating duels. He will be greatly missed around the duels and I am fairly certain that the community at large hopes that one day he will return.

The final stats from the tournament can be found here.

Suspect In Annex Fire Questioned

By TERA STARFARE

On June 7th according to police records Dimitri Locherin was brought in for questioning regarding the Annex fire. The report states that he broke free by setting the jailhouse on fire as well as brutally killed 16 guards and one innocent bystander.

As an addendum to this for you faithful readers the police have not yet contacted me regarding this and Karen Wilder of the Knights Templar has taken an interest in this case and so I am certain that things will be getting straightened out. I have also heard though an informant that strange things have been happening to the

properties that lie in Baron G'nort Dragoon's territory that he is responsible to oversee as the Baron of Dockside.

Aya Attempts To Collect The Bounty!

By TERA STARFARE
June 17, 2006

May 25th 2006, Aya Hayashibara attempted to collect the 9,500 Silver Nobles bounty that Damien Mortis and the WarDrac Baphelocutis est Lathadoscia put on the head of the Baron of New Haven Rakeesh The Hero but the lovely Asian Warlady was sadly unsuccessful in her attempt. I didn't make it to this challenge myself and details are limited in the records that I can find.

Summer Talon of Redwin Tournament

By TERA STARFARE
June 18, 2006

This is a tournament held in honor of the former Overlord Siera Redwin. Only duelists ranked below Warlord may enter. This is an excellent way for new duelers to enjoy the excitement and grandeur of a tournament. This one is held in the Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall.

It is a single elimination style and the swordplay is fast and furious! The winner gets to hold this prize for the entire dueling cycle. It gives them an added fancy to use during their duels. I am giving the results to you straight from the Arena cork board folks.

Tournament Recap

On the evening of Sunday, June 18th, 2006, Nine up and coming duelists convened in the Arena to determine who would earn the right to bear the Talon of Redwin through the coming Summer! With a mix of participants both determined and skilled, there would need to be one duelist with the edge to bypass all others in order emerge victorious through four rounds of the tournament and be crowned the new Talon of Redwin.

In the first round, the first to be eliminated was the delicious Charlie Jericho, as the lovely Anjolie Quinn relentlessly hounded her for Six quick rounds and taking her duel by the score of 5-1. That was shortly followed by old-timer Mikael Rheinhart emerging victorious over Tsu Nami in a closer bout of 5-3.5, but in eight rounds. The remaining two duels were slightly longer,

with Losden removing Derrac Montrose with defensive tactics, 5-1.5 in Ten hard fought rounds, and Ashin Arinathe coming from behind to kick out one Eddie Venom 5-4 in 11 grueling.

By virtue of being the first entry, Rhiannon Harker was granted the bye in the First round, and now stood to face the number Five seed, Anjolie Quinn. In thirteen long fought, difficult rounds, Rhiannon finally got rid of Anjolie by striking over her low defense to take the match 5.5 to 4. Just before that, however, the third seed, Losden snuck a lunge under fourth seed Mikael's high attack to send him packing while second seed Ashin took the break in this round.

With the third round beginning, it was up to Rhi and Ashin to fight it out to see who would face Losden, who got the Bye, for the right to be known as the Talon of Redwin. Rhi started out strong but fell behind early, staying behind with a couple trades. By then she was obviously fed up and turned her skill on, gaining three unanswered points to finally force Ash to the exit, 5-3.5 in 8 rounds.

In the final duel, and after a quick break, Rhiannon then faced off against Losden. Losden took a quick lead of 1.5 after four rounds, but once she started scoring, Rhi wouldn't be stopped, holding Losden to a single trade and taking the rest of the points, defeating Losden in Eleven rounds, by the score of 5.5-2.5!

Congratulations to Rhiannon Harker, the New Talon of Redwin! And an exceptional show put on by all who participated!

Moonberyl Challenged by Xerzes!

By TERA STARFARE
June 15, 2006

Emerald-ranked Xerzes challenged Moonberyl Opal holder, our very own Duel of Fists caller, Kalianna for the right to attempt to control it. As usual it was a best 2 out of 3 and strangely enough here in fists this month the challenge matches seem to all be going to 3.

Xer started off strong in the first match and took Kali in only 6 rounds with a score of 5-1. However Kali turned it on in the second match and nailed him in only 5 rounds after a whole lot of mutual beating upon each other!! The third match was literally dominated by Kali as Xerzes didn't manage to touch her until the very last round.

Kalianna retains control of Moonberyl and Xerzes gets to decide if he wants to challenge someone else for an Opal another night.

The RED Coalition

By TERA STARFARE
June 17, 2006

What is this you may be asking yourself having seen the pamphlets laying around in different public buildings and tacked up on numerous buildings and cork boards all over town. I have even seen it scribbled on bathroom walls in big red letters.

From what I have heard muttered behind hands screening lips so they couldn't be read by others as they spoke to me the WarDrac Baphelocutis est Lathadoscia as well as a few other old time Warlords are having fits about something or another and have formed what they are calling the RhyDin Extremist Duelers Coalition.

They are planning a takeover of some kind or another of all the Duel of Swords upper ranks including I would assume the Overlord mantle. I have no further information at the moment on this but have no fear I shall find out more and let you all know what is happening as this situation develops.
