Tournament Recap

On the evening of Sunday, September 24th, 2006, Seven up and coming duelists convened in the Arena to determine who would earn the right to bear the Talon of Redwin through the Autumn months! With a mix of participants both determined and skilled, there would need to be one duelist with the edge to bypass all others in order emerge victorious through four rounds of the tournament and be crowned the new Talon of Redwin.

In the first round, the returning champion Rhiannon Harker received the bye and the first to be eliminated was the delicious Charlie Jericho, as the persistent Damien Ravnos hounded her for ten rounds and taking the duel by the score of

5.5-2.5. That was followed by a pair of extensive matches where Ruke LaChayne, participating in his first Talon Tourney, battled it out for 16 rounds and defeated another newcomer to the tournament, the reptilian Bran Bale 5-4. That was overshadowed, however, by the even longer battle going on between a completely new duelist and last minute entry, Aerol Mathius, and former Talon, Rabmallet, who was eliminated in sudden death, 5-4, after eighteen extremely long rounds where half points ruled till the end.

Rhiannon Harker was granted the bye in the First round, and now stood to face the number Five seed, Ruke LaChayne. In twelve difficult rounds, Ruke finally eliminated the defending champion by stepping out of the way of her lunge and put an end to her comeback, take the match 5 to 3. Before that, however, the third seed, Damien, discovered what it's like to be on the wrong side of a train wreck, getting eliminated handily by Aerol in 10 rounds by a score of 5.5 to .5.

With the third and final round beginning, we would all have to make sure we didn't blink as the match was over as quickly as one could, with Ruke taking two quick points in two rounds and trading the remaining three to bring the Talon to him. He was quickly informed that selling the prize was not an option.

Congratulations to Ruke LaChayne, the New Talon of Redwin! And an exceptional show put on by all who participated!

Dioxane Carcin

Archmage Challenge Tournament

By TERA STARFARE
September 4, 2006

Three Mages appeared on the Isle to compete for the right to challenge Archmage Topaz Datrazanov for her Tower this lovely evening. Syous Myst, Tasslehofl Momus, and Brigath Cedran all were in fine casting form as they dueled in a round robin style while Topaz officiated.

First to duel were Tass and Brig with Tass coming out the victor by the slim margin of 5 - 4 in a hard fought 15 round battle before the small crowd that turned out to watch this spectacle! Tass then faced off against Syous in the ring as the crowd of fans grew. Syous jumped out to quick lead but Tass fought back, however it was Syous who came out the winner in this duel with a score of 5.5-3.5 in 12 rounds.

Brig and Syous then got into the Ring of Stars for a showdown. They appeared pretty evenly matched for the first 11 rounds. Then it was up for grabs but in the end Syous ended up with two wins for the night, Tass one, and Brig none so it was that Syous gained the right to Challenge Topaz for her Tower!

Archmage Topaz defends against Syous Myst

I'm bringing you this one straight from the cork board as posted by Azjah von Drachen Walde who officiated this one folks as I was unable to attend.

Syous Myst, the winner of the Tournament for the right to challenge the Arch Mage met with the reigning Arch Mage, Topaz Datrazanov on September 5.

It was a spectacle to behold as Syous fought the Arch Mage under the colors Black and Red, while Topaz fought with Lucien Datrazanov as her second, and under the colors light blue, black and silver, with just a touch of blond.

The match went the full 3 duel as the Arch Mage won the first one 5-2 in 8 fast rounds, but Syous came back in the second meeting and won it 5-3 in 11 rounds, thus driving it into the tie breaker round that was a squeaker! Topaz came out on top 5.5-4 at the end of 10 rounds.

Tower of Earth Challenged!

By TERA STARFARE
September 22, 2006

Artemus Kurgen defended his Tower of Earth key against the Challenger Vincent VM Smith in two hard-fought and well-cast duels this night. Both were slinging this and that at each other as I watched in amazement. There was this evil green penguin of doom who is named "Kenny" (according to Vincent) that Vincent kept hurling at Art; but Art kept killing it over and over! This was truly a sight to see, folks!

Vincent then began to issue them foul fogs that they have over there on the Isle and things got very interesting and it did stink, I am here to tell you! But there was Art calling down this fiery kind of inferno thingy that was just awesome to behold and it did do some damage to Vincent!

All-in-all, the scores of these here two duels do not tell the whole story folks as these were magnificent with both duelists fighting their hearts out in that there ring. Why they did not even take a break between the two duels! Art however did come out on top in both duels to keep his Tower this night although I am not so sure that his friend Vincent won't come knocking again at his door one day.

Tower of Fire Challenged!

By TERA STARFARE
September 20, 2006

Another one straight from the corkboard for you folks as posted by Topaz Datrazonov who officiated this one as I was unable to attend myself.

On the night of Wednesday, 20 September, I did bear witness to the Keeper of Fire challenge match between the challenger Tasslehofl Momus and the Keeper of Fire, Etherean Esperwind.

The duels were fast paced. The challenger started out by gaining the lead and held onto it for eight rounds. Then the Keeper managed a fine comeback to win the duel in round twelve with a score of 5-4. The second duel was even faster than the first, but this time Etherean dominated throughout. He sealed the win of the second duel in round ten with a score of 5.5-2.5.

Thus Etherean succeeded in defending the Tower of Fire and retained the title of Keeper of Fire.
