Cardinal Gone Insane?

By TERA STARFARE
October 5, 2006

A large gathering out front of the First Catholic Church was reported to me by someone that for reasons that will soon become clear did not give me their name. The Inquisition has come to RhyDin faithful readers!

The Cardinal had a couple and their child brought out in front of a crowd of worshipers that he had whipped into a frenzy with his religious fervor and telling them how the man had left his human wife and was sleeping with a beast.

Now I think it is safe to say that only this insane Cardinal would call this Elven woman such a thing as a beast in public like it was told he did. Not only did he call her this but he had her burned alive at the stake right there in the street with all these people cheering and to top it all off there were even some members of the RhyDin Watch present and they didn't make a move to stop it. They were cheering right along with everyone else!

The husband didn't get off lightly either. Oh no the Cardinal was not content with just burning the poor wife alive he also had the husband beheaded right there in front of the crowd as an example no doubt of what happens when you don't follow what this Cardinal says the Lord wants you to do to be a good Catholic.

He even had one of the soldiers come out with a large silver chalice and that soldier told his story of how he had once been a thief and was going to steal the chalice but he heard the Lord speaking to him when he went to steal the chalice to help get the crowd all fired up in a frenzy of following what the Lord wanted them to do. At least in this Cardinal's eyes but he didn't get his way in everything.

I was told that the couple had a child and there was this brave man on a horse that went tearing through the crowd hell bent for leather and it looked like he was going to save both mother and child but the Cardinal sicced the archers on him and the mother shoved her child into his arms and he made it away with the child, but he was injured badly and then this here other guy, that my informant couldn't really see, ended up with the child.

As the other guy was trying to get out of the crowd with the child there were some deaths that can't be explained by any known sources and the whereabouts of the child are currently unknown.

Grail's Stew on the Loose!

By JALEEISA WINDSTAR

It has been reported that someone or thing released the infamous Grail's Stew from the multitude of chains that secured it within its pot. Those that have seen the Stew in its escape mentioned seeing several rogue squirrels in the vicinity, but no other beings that could, or would, have effected its escape.

For those who do not know, Grail's Stew was created by one time Inn bartender, Grail. The mixture is said to be so vile, that one day it took on a life of its own. In years past there have been several epic battles with the Stew. This sentient concoction has wreaked havoc on the patrons and the building of the Inn itself. It also tends to want to slither up the legs and caress comely young women.

Few people seem to be able to stomach the disgusting mass. Various methods have been employed in the past to fight off the disgusting, gelatinous mass. Most notable among them that have seemed to have some effect is sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), fire (carefully controlled) and just plain out running.

The citizens should beware until it is captured and confined once more. It can take on various shapes as it oozes towards a victim. It can also climb walls and stools along with dissolving wood and steel with its caustic gravy. It cannot be controlled or defeated by steel, magics either bounce off it or amplify its abilities for a short time, aside from the aforementioned controlled fire.

The best thing, should one find the Stew confronting you, would be to get far out of its reach. It is to be considered armed and dangerous until someone can find a way to lure it back into its pot and confine it.

Orc Sighting

By TYRANACUS

RhyDin has many species inhabiting it, and orcs may be one of them, but there has been an orc sighting in the inn, and apparently he needs to learn some manners. He attempted to eat a little fossa, and smashed a hole through the wall of the inn. Beware people: Nasty orc, hungry, ugly, and sleepy. Beware!

Lost

An unusual pair of "dragon boots" were found in the alley outside the Red Dragon Inn. Will the owner please contact The Oracle to claim your footwear.

BLOOD GUTS GORE
In Back Alley!

Continued from Page 1

Alucard said something about releasing control systems to increase his power as Brian and Icer got into their positions to attack simultaneously. Erin began to bless her silver bullets with a prayer. Jade decided we would teach him some new tricks since he claimed to know all the old ones. The Vampire began spouting profanities as his gloves began to glow with strange symbols.

What happened next I don't think any of us could have guessed for that was when the whole carnage began. The ice dragon slammed into him from behind and sank her jaws deep into the back of his neck. Erin stepped away from the wall with the gun aimed at him with the silver now blessed bullets aimed at him and Lydia was at her side with her eyes now lit up brighter. Brian had also drawn Tyrsis and launched himself at him in a frontal attack but Alucard had been hovering slightly above the ground and flew forward his grasping hand aimed for Erin's chest!

I grabbed Erin's arm jerking her out of the way so that the attack was thrown off and the Vampire ended up instead getting into her shoulder and dislocating it rather than dealing the death blow he had intended but Erin out of reflex pulled the trigger on the gun and shot Alucard.

That gained me his attention and as Brian was yelling at Icer to let go of his neck, the Vampire came straight on for me with that hand of death aimed at the center of my chest. I managed to figure out what was happening in just enough time that as Erin got another shot off at him and Jade sank her fangs into his throat he only struck my upper arm, breaking the bone neatly if extremely painfully in two.

Icer shot her Icerfire at him and Lydia's hand began to heat up as she growled with anger and murmured something to herself Alucard attacked Erin and I, who had not done him any harm, yet he had chosen to attack both of us with blows that had we not been paying close attention and had not had help could well have killed us both.

The next thing we all knew we were in a room that was all red about the size of a Colosseum with no exits and the Vampire was still taunting us unmercifully as the bullet wounds healed and he moved about attacking Brian and Icer faster than could be seen before Brian at last tackled him taking him to the ground and pinning him there.

Icer grabbed his head in her jaws, Erin shot him with her remaining bullets, I stabbed him in the brachial artery, Lydia suddenly appeared to be a living flame! Icer then did what I couldn't imagine seeing she ripped his head from his shoulders and tossed it a distance away from the body that Lydia was burning with her flames as it turned into a puddle of blackened goo. Needless to say we were all surprised when the head went flying off

and I began yelling "Burn! Burn! Burn!" I may have been a little happy and excited at the time faithful readers.

But then this wasn't over as the black goo that the head and body had become formed many red eyes then at last reformed into Alucard once more. This time dressed in a red body suit you could see his black hair and crimson eyes now. He came at me again so very fast that if I hadn't slipped on a puddle of blood trying to escape his hand would have been buried deep in my chest but as I was falling to the ground instead he broke my other arm just as neatly as the first.

At this time Brian saw the peril I was in and ran to me scooping me up and taking me out of further harm's way. He ran with me to a clearer area where we fell to the ground with him taking the brunt of our fall even though he had more injuries than I did.

Alucard was on fire from the flames sent at him by Lydia, Icer, and Ty now but it didn't seem to slow him down much when Jenai came around the corner and into the Alley sizing up the chaotic blood splattered scene.

By now Erin had been attacked again and Jade was slashing his neck biting it so hard that it would be hard to detach her. Ty charged him with his sword as well slicing into his chest, blood spurting everywhere. Icer slapped her tail into his side but it was like hitting a wall. Even though we continued to injure him every injury healed as fast as we could cause them and he continued to laugh and taunt us at every turn.

Until finally Icer became so angry that she slammed into a building and brought the whole thing down. Just before it fell Alucard shot at Brian and I the bullets hitting the shield that Lydia had placed around he and I just in the nick of time.

Icer and Jade who had been shot in the neck by Alucard ended up buried beneath the rubble but that Vampire Alucard could be seen standing on a roof top looking down at all of us lying broken and bloody in the blood and gore-stained alley.

The Vampire spoke saying we had won, although at that moment in time none of us I felt we had, and claimed that if he had not been the original Vampire he would not have lived. He also said he hoped that our friendships remained strong and that he would let Jade live her life as she wanted to should she survive, as she was currently buried beneath the rubble of a building bleeding from the wound in her neck.

It was then that my beloved husband, Gavilean, and Wyheree came running out of the Inn. Gavilean caught sight of me and demanded to know who had harmed his wife then, since the Vampire had come back to the street, drew his Elven sword and severed Alucard's head from his body without a second thought.

The repercussions of this will no doubt be felt for some time to come although all of us who were involved have had the best of care from what I have been able to ascertain so far.
