Kalianna, the official for this highest honor in the Duel of Fists, posted this wonderful description of the happenings at the Diamond Quest on the corkboard. I wasn't able to attend so I'm bringing it to you in her very own words folks!
You know the routine
it's the Diamond Quest! The place where the duelers come to get good back to back violence like they love it!
Complete with a gaggle of nude women courtesy of Anubis, the Diamond Quest started off in the cool afternoon air with seven contenders.
Matt won the first bye and watched as his girlfriend Koy Vanduran fought Xerzes Maureen. Vincent Smith took on Kheldar Drasinia, and in the last ring, Grayson MacLeod was facing Anubis Karos, each holding a fire within them to bear the next Diamond and prevent Old Man Matt from taking home yet another.
Koy went on with the first win of the night with a close 5-4 match with Xerzes.
The boys went on a see saw match with one ending up on top, the other matching and then taking the lead until Vince got tired of playing cat and mouse and sent Kheldar to the losers bracket. 5-3 Final.
Grayson started out hot and heavy leading with two unanswered points before allowing Egyptian to catch up and plow through. Grayson did step it up and kept it close before losing the match five to 4.
The second round began with the pairings being Anubis and Vince, Kheldar and Grayson, and Matt and Koy. Xerzes received a bye much to the protest of the Egyptian, not that anyone was surprised, we all know there's no love there.
Grayson started out strong once more only to one again flag and let his opponent catch up until it became a nail biting point for point and SUDDEN DEATH situation! Grayson kisses Khel's boo boo and Kheldar finally gets some luck and manages to pound Grayson down for teh (yes, teh) win. Poor Grayson is eliminated.
Anubis and Vince were happily playing see saw this match for like the first two rounds, and then Anubis obliterated mister happy testosterone 5-2 for the final score with a fancy
jumpkick. Interesting.
Koy was utterly destroying her other half as she treated him to a Koy favored type beating and then finally put him out of his misery with a 5-2 win and led us into round three!
Round Three!
With Grayson eliminated, Anubis and Koyliak received a bye and relaxed to watch Vince and Xerzes in one ring and Kheldar and Matt in another.
|
Matt started out pounding Kheldar to try and regain a semblance of his pride after Koy annihilated him. Kheldar though, wanted no part of that and patiently waited to tie it back up at three and then took the lead and the match until Matt trades to go down swinging. 5-4 Final.
Vince and Xerzes started off pounding each other until Vincent finally grabbed Xerzes by the shirt and chucked him for the first point. Vincent lost his cushy lead and then regained it as the match continued until he finally powered through with a win, 5-3.
With Matt and Xerzes eliminated, the rest of the victors battled into Round Four!
Koy and Anubis face off with Anubis not taking Koy and her abilities lightly and with two points ahead only barely lost his major lead as she slipped up a point. Grinding occurs in poker -and- in duels and Koy slowly eased Anubis' lead until she took it only to have Anubis get it back to tied. They went to sudden death until Anubis' chop took Koy down to a first lost for the woman.
Vince started out strong and dominated Kheldar completely to take him out and earn him a spot trying to defeat the loser of the Anubis and Koy duo.
Vince was then faced with Koy as we headed into the final rounds.
The battle was tough and fierce but ultimately left Koy facing Anubis once more.
With Anubis undefeated and Koy down one, the battle to the diamond was going to be hard for her, but diamonds were a girls best friend so she had to give it a good go.
Reeling and bruised up she heartily headed back in and Anubis looking rather refreshed and surrounded by his caravan of nude women lazily sauntered in to face his final challenge.
With odds in his favor, and a drowess shouting out death wishes for him, he slid in and deftly dodged Koy's first jab and with a fancy little twist garnered the first point.
He kept the pressure up, jabbing down her snapkick, and then rolling directly into a sweep to take her fancy dodge down.
With it 3-0 in Anubis' favor, they traded as Anubis' chopped and Koy returned the jab.
4-1 and Koy sliced out a flip to take down the fancy armblock Anubis set up and then moved right into a fancy leap but Anubis took her down for the win!
Congratulations to our newest diamond in the forty seventh place, Anubis Karos! Now Harris can't say he's never been diamond any longer.
And grats our newest opal holder of Moonberyl, Koyliak VanDuran!

There was quite a crowd in the Annex when Anubis Karos entered ready to defend his Opal Ice Dancer against all comers on the evening of October 15, 2006. I had the distinct honor of officiating for any Challengers that wanted to step up and attempt to brawl their way to glory until he either lost the Opal or all Challenges had been met and dealt with in the ring.
This was all about HONOR and GLORY in the dueling rings and there were several that came set to win themselves that there opal Ice Dancer away from Anubis since he had offered to fight anyone and everyone that wanted to all in ONE NIGHT!!!
People were lined up! Vincent VM Smith showed up planning to get that opal right back that he had done lost to Anubis but Artemus Kurgen was there too waiting in line for his chance at holding this here Opal.
Anyhow the very first person to issue their Challenge was Grayson Macleod and Anubis immediately accepted it and I put them right in a ring and they got right down to business just that fast folks!
Grayson jumped out to a quick 2 point lead before they had two rounds of nothing then Anubis dropped him and blocked him to tie things up. They then went back and forth for a couple of rounds each scoring before Grayson faked Anubis out for the win in the first duel 5 - 3!
Neither wanted to take a break so they started right back up with Grayson getting on the board first by sweeping Anubis off his feet! Anubis came right back though and got himself a lead before they both gained position on each other but Grayson was able to capitalize and tied things up
|
again. The lead then went back and forth again until at last this Opal Challenge match ended up in SUDDEN DEATH folks!!!!!!!
But it was Grayson's night this here go around as he was able to get in a kick before Anubis could dodge to win Ice Dancer after 10 rounds of fighting 5 - 4!
Grayson has waived the usual grace period between challenges so all Emeralds are free to have at him at any time now. With the line that was waiting I doubt he will have long to wait before someone steps up.

There was no crowd when Grayson MacLeod faced off against Vincent VM Smith on October 19, 2006 in his first defense of the Opal Ice Dancer. But they fought nevertheless and it was a glorious brawl let me be the first to tell y'all!
The first duel started out with both scoring by kicking the snot out of each other then they traded for a couple of rounds but it didn't take long before Vinny captured the lead and never looked back which is how he won the first duel of the Challenge in 8 rounds with a score of 5 - 2.
The second started off with neither scoring but then Grayson came back and scored 3 points right in a row before Vinny hauled off and punched him right quick like to stop that! Vinny scored again with his foot then Grayson got out of the way before they stalled then both gained position and then Grayson hauled off
|
and kicked Vinny for the win in the second duel of the Challenge in 10 rounds with a score of 5 - 2.
Then it was on to a THIRD and deciding duel for the fate of Ice Dancer! After a short break they were at it again fast and furious. Grayson leapt for the first point then Vinny tossed him to get on the board as well so they was tied up! Grayson then blocked and leapt again to pull ahead 3 - 1 in round 4. But Vinny wasn't about to give up his dream of getting back Ice Dancer and he hauled off and punched Grayson again!
After that they ducked and dodged both gaining position and what happened next was very strange indeed because they dodged and leapt gaining them each the conversion for full points! This put Grayson one point away from the win and Vinny only two!!! BUT Vinny then ducked when Grayson was kicking and it was all over in 8 rounds with a score of 5 - 3 in favor of Grayson!
Grayson has again waived the grace period!!!

Harris D'Artainian
Preferred Dueling Areas: Duel of Fists
I had the unique pleasure of visiting with someone I have literally watched over the last decade go from a rookie, who once many years ago won a Tournament in which the prize was one of my hats, into the Opal holder that he is today.
The current holder the Duel of Fists Opal, Path Finder, Harris D'Artainian who at the time of this interview was under Challenge by Dizzy Flores, an Emerald in this sport. This isn't the first time that Dizzy has attempted to take Path Finder from Harris and he had this to say about the current Challenge. Harris: "Well, I mean, if you can even call it that."
I asked him why Fists was his favorite of the three sports and he had this to say. Harris: "There's only one sport that allows me to properly crush the bodies *and* spirits of pansy elves and that's DoF. No Ward like on the Isle or in the Arena. You step into the ring and you can count on gettin' hurt. Mmm... Hardcore."
Since he didn't really feel that Dizzy was any real challenge I asked him who he felt might be. Harris: "The Prince of Pugilism, which is me by the way, really only deems a select few as true challenges. Matthew Simon has dominated the sport for years and is a living legend that easily rivals Dalamar in the Arena or Wulfson on the Isle. Aside from Matt... Maybe Anubis, due to his love for extreme forms of violence."
In case you are wondering who those people are they are Lord Dalamar Ar'Daumon who dominated the Overlord
|
title in Duel of Swords and Will Wulfson who dominated the ArchMage title on Twilight Isle in Duel of Magic and Matthew Simon who dominated the title of Diamond in Duel of Fists and last but certainly not least Anubis Karos whose career in both Duel of Swords and Duel of Fists is long and distinguished including him being the current Diamond in Fists.
The legacy that this fighter wants to leave behind is his blue hair folks. We spoke some about his hobbies and he mentioned that he has had several failed business ventures and would rather spend his time punching people so he rather considers The Outback as his hobby instead of anything else.
I remember that he had placed an ad for a corner girl position and asked him if he had filled position yet. He said he has had several apply for it and that one rather bouncy lady has caught his eye and has real potential to be the lucky lady to be in his corner during his upcoming Challenge Match with Dizzy so I reckon we shall all see just who he has hired on that night which has not yet been settled between him and Dizzy.
His advice for new duelers is this. Harris: "Prepare for pain. Expect it, embrace it, enjoy it, then dish it right back out tenfold No better advice than that, lemme tell ya."
When I asked what else he would like put in the paper for him he replied. Harris: "Don't forget that I like long walks on the beach and my favorite color is blue."
Harris refused to allow me to print a picture of him with this article saying. Harris: "I don't allow photos to be taken. That's why there's never any paparazzi around. Break a few of their legs and they get the picture... So to speak. Plus cameras steal your soul. Little known fact."
