You did read that right folks! What a night and Challenge this turned out to be. I should have known something was up when it was me, Tera Starfare of Westridge, that was asked to officiate this grand and glorious event over in the Duel of Swords that I don't normally call for anymore. Well except for Challenges when asked. But still when I saw who all was there I reckon I should have been prepared for the unexpected but I wasn't!
Before I could even ask for all the correct information from the Baron of Seaside, Damien and his Challenger, Cassius up piped none other than the current Overlord Cletus informing me in no uncertain terms that it would be himself and the Baron of Old Market, G that would be dueling. In other words folks the Overlord was testing Cass to see if he was worthy to Challenge his loyal Baron Damien. Renegade Baron G was stepping in on the Challenger Cass' behalf basically proclaiming that he felt Cass was worthy to Challenge Damien and therefore G was willing to duel the Overlord to prove Cass was worthy.
So into the ring I put Overlord Cletus and Baron G to duel. I will say here that what I learned from this duel is there is a
real good reason Cletus is the Overlord. I will also say that G has asked me not to print this duel in The Oracle with his name attached to it. The score of this duel was 5-0 Cletus in 5 rounds. Yeouch!
Then into the ring went Overlord Cletus to continue on with his test of worthiness of Cass. Round 1 had Cletus stepping around Cass' thrust for a point. Round 2 Cass defended low and Cletus struck high for a point. In 3 Cletus defended high successfully for a point and I was having flashbacks of the last duel. The next round neither gained a point as both ducked down waaaaaay low. Then Cass was on the board as he defended himself low at the right time bringing the score to 3-1 so no shutout this go around for Cletus! The 6th round saw them both defending high but the Overlord's was prettier although neither got points. 7 Cass ducked into a thrust which never fails to gain a wince from me and in 8 Cass got a strike in high when Cletus attempted a fancy disengage bringing the score to 4-2 Overlord's favor. Round 9 was null for both as Cletus again fancy disengaged while Cass fancy sidestepped. But in 10 the Overlord emerged victorious with a thrust above the Challenger's low cut for the win bringing this Challenge to an end at a score of 5-2 Cletus.

Dockside Challenged By Overlord Grant Winner
Aurora Blackmane vs. Jaycynda Ashleana
By TERA STARFARE
October, 26, 2007
It was time again for the Overlord to give out their grant to some worthy personage in Swords that does allow that personage to Challenge any Baron or Baroness of their choice. This time it was Aurora Blackmane that Cletus decided to turn loose with Grant in hand folks! Now Aurora took aim at the Baroness Jaycy who watches over Dockside. Dioxane was the offical that oversaw the festivities as they met to decide who would end up with the Baron’s ring that fateful night. This here is what Dio had to say about it all folks.
Bloody hell, when they have a challenge, they have a challenge.
On the night of Friday, October 26th, sometime after 9pm, The Challenger was Aurora Blackmane who decided to press challenge to the Dockside district Baroness, Jaycynda Ashleana.
The Challenger just showed up to fight, and didn't have any seconds, colors or Lord of Honor.
The Baroness, however, was all set up and raring to go with her own set. Her Banner Colors were Silver, green, and black. As her Second she had Rand alTan with her Lord of Honor being Leo de Lorenzo.
The Baroness wanted it to be over, for good or ill, as soon as possible, and thusly chose a single match format.
In round One, Both challenger and defender seek to open this battle of the ages with blood. Only one can score unless the combo was different than this, but it's the Baroness who sneaks in her blade first! ((HC/TH)) 1-0 Jaycy
In Round Two, Revenge is a dish best served cold, but it's the cold shoulder one must worry about. The challenger lunges, seeking retribution but the Baroness rebukes her decisively. ((TH/SH)) 2-0 Jaycy
In Round Three, We watch the lovely challenger begin her move, she appears to drop twice before sneaking it around and striking high. The Baroness was after the initial pattern and drove her blade low. Blood sprays the crowd! You know.. if blood did indeed spray. ((HC/LC)) 3-1 Jaycy
Then in round Four, Aurora the Challenger drops back, seeking to catch the evil Jaycynda the Baroness in a sucker lunge. But Jaycy wasn't fooled by the manuever and comes about with hi second cut, striking high. ((HC/SH) 4-1 Jaycy
In Round Five, however, I thought it was going to be over fast. But now, as the Villianous Baroness makes her move to dance aside, the Villainous Challenger sweeps low and strikes true! ((LC/FSS)) 4-2 Jaycy
Finally, in the Sixth round, The end was nigh, There could be only one, and it was Jaycynda. ((HC/FCP)) 5-2 Jaycy
So, in Six quick rounds, the Villainous Baroness Jaycynda Ashleana defended her title from the Villainous Challenger, Aurora Blackmane.
So witnessed be me,

51st Diamond Quest in DoF!
By TERA STARFARE
October 21, 2007
I was sorry that I missed this one folks when I read the corkboard and saw what all had happened. Who would have thought that this one would turn out quite like it did? I'll leave the telling of the details to what I found on the board as it really is best said from there.
On Sunday, October 21st, seven of the Outback's best gathered together to vie for the 51st Diamond Quest championship! The Round Robin tournament consisted of, in order of random seeding: Bran Bale, Matthew Algiers Simon, Koyliak VanDuran-Simon, Kheldar Drasinia, Artemus A. Kurgen, Gork, and Vinny.
In total, the tournament, officiated by the current Panther's Claw holder Rena A. Cronin, consisted of 21 total duels and 160 rounds (the longest duel(s) lasted 11 rounds and most lasted between 5 and 7).
Selected Highlights:
In the first round, Art started strong with a shutout victory over Kheldar, but fell to Gork 5-1 in Round 2 after being down 4-0.
In the fifth round, Bran had his best duel of the night, coming away with a 5-1 victory over Matt Simon in 5 rounds.
Art rebounded from two consecutive losses to dominate the other half of the Simon household in round 4, besting Koy 5-1 in six rounds, and followed that with another 5-1 in six victory over Vinny.
Koy got her lone victory of the night in the 5th round over Vinny, in a 5-4 eleven round slugfest.
The Championship Match between Gork and Bran, of course, went to Sudden Death, with Gork eeking out the victory for his very first Diamond title!
Surprise MegaCast Tournament Held On Twilight Isle!
By TERA STARFARE
October 9, 2007
From what I have read on the corkboard folks there was a spur of the moment MegaCast Tournament held on the Isle as a special something. Brigath officiated this and just to keep things all stirred up nice and proper like should be in a mayhem type fighting spirit he let every spell be used except Elemental Fury and everyone of any rank got to use any non-keeper spell they wanted to.
There was a spectacular prize awarded of a snow white teddy bear approx. 2 ft tall waring a black pointy wizard hat that had a small yellow half moon on it, wearing a dark blue cape with lots of stars and a black shiny shirt that had white letters on it DoM Mega Cast. Now just who could resist that I'm asking ya. Too cute for words folks!
In the end 12 casters showed up for the "Archmagi Rumble" (that is what Brig called it on the corkboard y'all) and it lasted a whole 23 full rounds! It says that Will Wulfson won the first place teddy bear and little Liena Hope got second place while the beautiful Azjah Von Drachen Walde (don't forget she has I believe it is a weapon's shop where you can buy stuff or order stuff from) came in third.
DoM October All Ranks Tournament!
By TERA STARFARE
October 2, 2007
This tournament from what I have read was hosted by Topaz and had cash prizes although this time around only a few participated. Normally the magic tournaments have quite large participation numbers as the goblins on the Isle tend to really go all out with plenty of food and drinks for the occasions and they are certainly well known for their ice cream! At any rate if you get over there look for the one wearing the cowboy hat as they are my personal favorite and will treat you right.
Here is what Topaz had to say about the tournament.
We had a surprisingly small turn out. But those who participated had a fun tournament.
The entrants were Rena, Bran, Russel and Vinny. Everyone agreed to change the format of the tournament from single elimination to round robin, with the tie breaker being accumulated points should a tie happen.
After round 1 Vinny and Rena each had a win with 6 and 5 points respectively. Russ had 5 points and Bran 3. After round 2 Vinny had a clear lead with 2 wins and 11 points, Bran and Rena each had 1 win with 8 and 7.5 points respectively, and Russel had collected a total of 7.5 points. After round 3 Vinny emerged as the winner of the tournament with 3 wins and a total of 16 points. Russel, coming from behind, slipped into second place with one win on points, a total of 13. Rena and Bran share third place, both having collected one win and a total of 12 points.
