Anjolie Quinn
Surprisingly, or not so surprisingly, it was Vanion Knightwood-Shadowcast who just earlier this month lost his bid for the Overlord title to Cory that officiated this Challenge Match between husband and wife for the Overlord title this night. Cory stood with no colors, no lady of honor and no second. Anjolie dueled with her Golden Sun flag and Hochi Banto as her Lord of Honor.

The Test of Worthiness was declined and a single duel format was decided upon by the current Overlord, Cory. It should be noted that this was the fourth time Cory has been called upon to defend his mantle and from what I read on the cork board about this duel Anjolie jumped to a quick lead then allowed only a single point to be scored by Cory before after 9 rounds taking the win with a score of 5-1 to become the new Overlady of the Duel of Swords!
Cory is now the Baron of Old Market in place of Anjolie and has decided his alignment to be renegade. No other Baron or Baroness were there to declare themselves at the time of this Challenge. Since then I have learned that Maria stands renegade also and Karen and Rena stand loyal so far.

It was an evening filled with rock 'em, sock 'em, mayhem, madness, BLOOD, GUTS, GLORY and plenty of bruises to go around folks when 10 of The Outback's finest showed up for a Bar Room Brawl that was for once officially sanctioned unlike most that happen in here. I will admit to even being a part of one or two in my time. That would be me the official that over saw this here brawl, Des.
Those that were tearing up the place and each other were none other than in no certain order since they are all great duelers of some note by their own rights: Jaycy, Dizzy, Wyheree, Harris, Caedia, Koyliak, Kheldar, Artemus, Tarl, and Vanion's Shadow. Well okay so Vanion's Shadow might not be a great dueler in it's own right but Vanion himself was tied up with his Overlord Challenge against Cory when the brawl was due to take place so Vanion sent his Shadow to fight in his stead and it really did a pretty good job I must admit, for a shadow and all.
Thank goodness the repair crew were not around to see all their fancy new repairs getting busted up or they would have been having hissy fits I am quite certain as wasn't nothing off limits tonight. All was fair and they sure enough took advantage of this fact and I was so proud of everyone one of 'em that stepped up to fight! They did not let me down not a one of 'em.
Fist and feet were flying in a flurry that it was hard for me to keep up with all the action that was here, there and everywhere all at once! It didn't take long for a pattern to become apparent as Jaycy, Caed, and Koy began singling out people while the others were mixing it up pretty good. These here three women became like rabid dogs on the scent of water I tell ya folks!
The first round saw Art getting nailed like crazy, Harris and Tarl got pounded upon and Jaycy, Dizzy, and Vanion's Shadow took a little damage. The second had only Caed with full stamina left Wyh had dropped by two points. Harris had been hit again as had Tarl and Art leaving Art with half of the 10 everyone had started with. Everyone else had escaped the damage by inflicting it or missing out on the action completely.
The end of round three saw Harris getting chopped by Caed for trying to cop a feel and Tarl being shoved to the floor to work on his pants while Wyh landed a wicked chop to Art who in turn took out Vanion's Shadow's knees. Dizzy leapt off the FERN to sweep Wyh. Koy attacked Tarl with a sweep while Caed punched him and Jaycy spinkicked him. Kheld was busy trading sweeps with Vanion's Shadow

during all this which made for quite a mawling indeed folks!
Round four had our first elimination as Harris punched Tarl (who did punch him right back) then Caed and Koy both kicked him so Tarl was eliminated. Kheld and Wyh exchange chops which left Wyh open for the bottles Art had begun throwing to find their target which was Wyh this round but Dizzy was climbing up on top of first one then an even higher table to land on Art with an attack of her own that did some damage to him. Vanion's Shadow had remained mobile and nailed Art too.
Five was more mass chaos folks with Vanion's Shadow getting clocked not once, not twice, not thrice but count 'em folks five times!!! The others to get hit were Wyh, Kheld, and Harris. Six came up and we saw one depart the Brawl as Vanion's Shadow was eliminated while on the other end of the spectrum Koy and Jaycy still had 9 stamina.
We headed on to round 7 with the women as determined as ever to destroy the men, it was readily apparent to those that had come to watch, dog piling was the fashion statement of the evening in ladies wear. Harris hauled off and punched Kheld. Art chopped Jaycy who turned around and chopped Harris! Dizzy tried to kick Kheld but he being a veteran of many brawls ducked. Wyh and Art did the punch-in-a-face to each other which sat Art down for the rest of the evening but you can say he went out with a blaze of glory. Meanwhile Harris was first swept by Dizzy then Caed kicked ‘em and Koy delivered a punch to also sit him down this round.
The ranks had thinned considerably by round 8 with Kheld being the last remaining male in the mix. The three women Jaycy, Caed, and Koy still were going strong with 8 and 9 stamina between them while everyone else were beginning to tire rapidly. Dizzy was hanging on with 5, Kheld with 4, and Wyh 1. This round it was beat up on Dizzy as she got thoroughly molested folks and Wyh was beating on Kheld!
In round 9 we said good night to both Dizzy and Wyh as fists and feet were flying amazingly fast still on the part of the triad that had formed up early on. I have to say I am quite certain that Kheld knew what was coming in round 10. It was like a train coming down the tracks and ya know ya can't stop it but ya ain't gonna just lay down and die either.
When all was said and done they fluffed and mussed him up right proper like then decided that the three of them would evenly spilt the total prize money between them.

This was officiated by Gnimish Gnimoi and three mages stepped into the rings to determine just who would have the right to Challenge Vinny for his Celestial Tower on Twilight Isle. The format was round robin so they all got to whoop upon each other at least once on this night before the small crowd of spectators that was there.
According to the cork board Russel, Xerxes, and Will, fought hard and excellently but it was Will Wulfson who is a former several time Arch Mage that won the right to face off against Vinny.

The ever honorable Xenograg officiated this Challenge Match between the current Overlord Cory and the winner of the Warlord Tournament Vanion. All three of these duelers have been previous Duelers With Des spotlights so you can read more about them in back issues of The Oracle if you want to know more about them.
This was Cory's third defense of his title and he decided one duel would see him the winner again. He stood without colors, lady of honor, and second for this match. Vanion dueled under the hexapus standard of the Myr'Khul Temple and claimed Karen Wilder as his Lady of Honor. I must add here I bet she was just

tee totally ticked off to know that as there is bad blood between those two that runs deeper than most rivers in RhyDin folks.

Now back to this Challenge Match between the Overlord Cory Havoick and Vanion Knightword-Shadowcast on this particular evening. It was close in the beginning but it didn't take long for Cory to break the match wide open and set Vanion down with a 5-1 defeat to keep the title of Overlord.

Preferred Dueling Areas: Duel of Magic
I really enjoyed my visit this month with my fellow Tour de RhyDin Team Fearless teammate, Wyheree Ravenlock-Black, the 12th holder of the Talon of Redwin in Swords. She is an Ice Elemental and married to Captain James Black of the Seawolf. When I asked her what her preferred sport was she had this to say: "The expected answer would be Magic, but I enjoy Swords very much, and have found I have a certain knack for Fists. I have learned much watching the crew brawl aboard ship!"
The lovely lady hasn't been in our fair city for all that long so I was curious what had brought her to find the sports in the first place as I remember when she first arrived in the Inn and at that time I could

not image her ever being one to enjoy such rugged pastimes.
Wyheree: "I first became aware of the sports when Pslyder visited the Inn with the Duel of Fists just after I returned to RhyDin. I paid a visit to the Isle soon after, and after witnessing the Talk Like a Pirate Dueling, I visited the Arena, and have stayed."
As always I was curious to see if this dueler had any specific title, gem, or key she held close to her heart that she was wanting to capture in the future.
Wyheree: "Icedancer has appeal, considering the powers of that particular Opal. I also have a keen desire to be Overlady, the best in the Arena."
Her hobbies are the sports and researching new ways to use her ice and when she is not at the Red Dragon Inn tending bar or The Outback calling duels she is aboard the Sea Wolf. There she serves as Ship's Physician which takes up the bulk of her time according to Wyh.
Wyheree's advice to new duelers: "Keep trying, no matter how hard it may seem - you will find success!"
The only other thing that she wanted me to put in the paper for her was this: "I enjoy dueling very much!"
