BLOOD GUTS GLORY and GORE Oh My!
Or FireStar Challenge!

By TERA STARFARE

I had the honor and may I say great pleasure of watching and officiating this Challenge Match when Koyliak VanDuran, current holder of the Opal Moonberyl, stepped up for the DoF Staff to defend the red Opal, FireStar against the Challenger for it Anubis Karos.

Let me take you back a few weeks right quick to explain how it came to be that it was Koy facing off against Anubis this night. Mur Ollovan, long time holder of FireStar, had been challenged several times by Anubis and failed to appear at the appointed times for their matches. Typically the challenge would be declared null and the Opal would have been up as a prize in a tournament. However Anubis expressed a keen desire to fight for the Opal and the DoF Staff saw no reason to deny him the chance.

So after careful consideration a defender was appointed to fight Anubis in Mur's stead. They selected Koy as the longest current reigning Opal and a constant present around the Outback feeling she would prove a more than capable defender and she agreed which brings us to this Challenge Match.

I first placed the two in ring FERN allowing them to show off their agility on the huge plant's springy fronds to get things started as this is one of Koy's favorite rings. Just before they entered the ring to begin their dueling I heard Koy remark to Anubis, "I figure either ye'll beat the stuffin' outta me and I'll be happy and ye'll have the stone so ye'll be happy or iffn I win, well then mebbe I'll have delayed tha Opal gettin' up ta no good fer a lil longer. Win-win ta me." Anubis' reply was a bit surprising as he said, "They've never had the ability to sway my mind or sicken my soul. I suspect that they loath me for this."

They started off with Koy gaining the first point as Anubis jabbed and she flipped him. The next round waylaid him by pretending to kick him and instead slammed her fist into his thigh when he was prepared for a full on punch up higher.(feintjumpkick/fancyarmblock) Things looked a little bit better when Anubis hauled off and to Koy's delight flat out punched her. (jab/sweep) In round four we ended up tied as Anubis got an arm up and then some to keep Koy's stiletto from doing any damage. (fancyarmblock/snapkick) 2-All. Then we had a round of she did and he acted like he was going to but it didn't get them either anywhere. (flip/feintflip) Koy wasn't letting Anubis have all the fun though because she straight out nailed him next round. (jab/feintjumpkick). In round eight Anubis did his jumpkick fake out and scored again though. (feintjumpkick/fancyduck) 4-3 K In nine neither managed to connect with each other as Koy did the fake out thing. (feintjumpkick/sweep) But in what would prove to be the last round of this first duel Koy clocked Anubis for the final point and win! (jab/snapkick) 5-3.

I want to be sure and add there was a great crowd tonight that were cheering and watching. I'm sure that both Koy and Anubis appreciate each and everyone one of y'all that came by. Well maybe not

Anubis because he seems to be in a mood these days but when he gets out of his mood he will probably appreciate it folks! Well that is if he doesn't catch me and choke me for putting him in FERN. He sure enough didn't look to happy when he jumped out of that there plant if I do say so myself.

They both were ready for the second duel straightaway and I thought to be fair I'd put them in a ring that I know to be on of Anubis' favorites so it was off to CAN for the two so they could show off just how brutal these two fighters can be flat out. They didn't disappoint either! This one started off with jabs from each! Then Anubis put on a burst of speed to get away from those wicked heels of Koy's. (Fancydodge/jumpkick) But Koy turned around and got a punch in instead. (jab/sweep) 2-All Then it was another fake out by Anubis that resulted in no score for each. (feintjumpkick/chop) After that he was gonna grab but didn't and Koy was gonna grab period for no score to either for a second round in a row. (feintflip/flip) In round 6 though it was blissfully violent once more! (jabx2) Sadly in the next they were back to shifting around in the CAN without scoring. (feintjumpkick/fancyleap) But next time around Anubis clocked Koy. (jab/sweep) Then before a person could blink Koy was doing the faking out and slammed a shoulder into Anubis to bring the match to SUDDEN DEATH!!!!! (feintsnapkick/fancydodge) They grappled for a naught for a round staying at SUDDEN DEATH tied up a 4-All (flipx2) Then in round 11 Anubis fancy ducked right under Koy's incoming jab to win this and tie them up at one duel each! 5-4.

With the way things were going I decided all things considered this final match should test their remaining skills to the very limit so the next ring I put these two formidable duelist in was STYX for the final and deciding match of this Challenge. I'm not sure if the two were getting tired of just being cautious at the beginning of this one but the first round saw Koy fancy dodging and Anubis fancy legblocking for no points. The second round saw them again with the feint flip and flip combo and no score. The third had Anubis saving himself for a full point and the first of the duel. (fancyarmblock/chop) Koy turned around though and took him downtown to tie it up. (Sweep/fancydodge) Anubis wasn't ready to give up the lead and took it back. (jab/spinkick) The next round saw neither able to score on the other once more. (sweep/feintjumpkick) Round 7 another jab by Anubis got through to bring the score to 3-1 his favor. (jab/snapkick) In the next round it was pure carnage as Koy unleased the one punch and Anubis the two upon each other! (jab/chop) Anubis then tried another jab but Koy caught him with a flip. She followed that up with a snapkick (vs flip) that Anubis couldn't get away from and just that quick we were at SUDDEN DEATH in round 10 again folks! In 11 Anubis gets way the heck out of (fancy)dodge as Koy was trying to flip him to take the win and gain the Opal FireStar! 5-4.

Both fought long, well, and hard this night. It was truly shining moments for each!!!

Anubis Does It Again!

By TERA STARFARE

Things were hopping in The Outback with people fighting left and right in the rings folks. Others were drinking at their usual tables with the usual suspects when in came the Egyptian in all his glory. Yup Anubis was in the house and apparently looking for more than just a duel this particular night.

I seen him looking over who all was there and that is when it happened he opened his mouth and out came those words. "This looks like a good night for an Open Challenge Night." and it was on! Dizzy Flores pipped up immediately as you see back on the night Anubis won FireStar as soon as Anubis waived the grace period she had spoke up right then and there Challenging him for that Opal. So she had already been hot on his heels for it!

But she wasn't to be outdone as Cory Havoick was also there and pipped up scant seconds after her Challenging Anubis for this here firey rock too even though Jaycy and her black as sin at midnight ShadoWeaver currently stand under Challenge by Cory.

Now I was busy calling regular duels but Fearless Wyh was keeping QUE for me so she said she would do the honors as Anubis accepted Dizzy's challenge since she got her mouth open first. These here things tend to be first come first serve ya see. But the Opal holder does have the last say on who they are going to fight against.

Anyway first off they went way up high into STYX to throw down and Anubis got in the first point but Dizzy wasn't letting him get away with anything and clocked him in the next round. They went around and around up there on those narrow beams for 10 hard and well fought rounds even coming right down to the wire with SUDDEN DEATH before the current Opal holder knocked Dizzy right on off the beam she was on sending her falling to the mats fifteen feet below! Anubis took the first match with a score of 5-4 in 11 rounds.

The second match Wyh put these two veterans in her favorite ring of all the icy RINK. I must admit I was looking forward to watching the action as this ring has proved to be quite entertaining since it has reopened. Again Anubis took the first point of the match but Dizzy didn't come right

back and return the favor. Instead he dominated for a bit but at last Dizzy seemed to find her footing and managed to score three times off of the Egyptian before he put paid to her Challenge and retained his hold of the Opal FireStar with a score of 5-3 in 8 rounds.

Then to the surprise of everyone except Cory apparently Anubis turned to Wyh with an undeniable smirk on his face and stated "Open Challenge Night is closed". But he did waive the grace period again.

Vanion Loses Hold On Tower Of Air

By TERA STARFARE

According to what I have read about this Challenge Match between Vanion Shadowcast and Russel Strong in Brigath's own words it would be an insult to Russel to call this match a challenge to Russel's skills as a mage. For when the two met this night on Twilight Isle it was not the current Keeper of Air, Vanion that had any sort of advantage of his Challenger. Oh no faithful readers it was Russel who thoroughly dominated for two straight duels.

I read that Vanion was only able to score, and this is during the entire two duels, a half point against Russel. While Russel scored a full ten on Vanion to become the new Keeper of Air on the Isle.

Pathfinder Challenge
Anjolie vs Artemus

By TERA STARFARE

Nameless Guy did this one again folks so here it is!

Me again. I know you were all waiting with baited breath.

This time, some chick I call P.P. (Pallid and Pasty) who, I gather not only talks to rocks but openly professes to love the green one she has, fought this dude who, aside from living among the trees and does God-knows-what with them, covets her rock. When one man covets a woman's rock, is that like, normal? Isn't it usually the other way around?

Anyhow. P.P. and L.L. (Leaf Lover) fought on, of all places, a plant. People call it the Fern. I call it plant abuse. I almost called the S.P.C.P., but I was hungry, so I didn't have the energy. Basically, all I can say is that P.P. needs to a) spend more time in the tanning salon and b) not getting her ass kicked by dudes who sleep with leaves. It was kinda sad to watch, especially knowing she had to still pay me Cash Money. I think L.L. felt bad, too, cuz he pulled some punches. Maybe he wanted to make it seem like a fight rather than a slaughter.

Apparently, once wasn't enough and she wanted more beatdown. This time, they moved off of the plant and into the infamous squared circle. P.P. went down again early, but that love (I guess it's better love than lust) for her rock got her juices flowing. This time, L.L. couldn't build a big lead, and P.P. took advantage. With a wham, bam, and thank you ma'am, she put L.L. down for the count. At least, metaphorically.

And, not that I particularly enjoy this, but three matches means overtime pay for me. And overtime means more Cash Money! So, it's all good. L.L. took the early lead again, but he started pulling punches and it all went downhill from there. Now, somewhere in the middle of all this, some angry guy came in who I can call Anubis, because that's what everyone else called him, stuck a knife to my throat, and demanded I tell him all that had transpired up until that point. The good thing about that: Hazard Pay! Hazard Pay = More Cash Money! Somewhere between the knife and catching another glimpse of what was going on, P.P. won the fight. I guess that rock is, well, heartily loved for another day.

For the record, P.P., like Short in the last one of these I did, tried to stiff me. Whined about not enough cash. Whined about having to go get cash. So I followed her to the ATM. Once bitten, twice shy. Next time, I get my Cash Money up front, and any overtime and hazard pay better be ready once we're all done.

And by the way, I'm glad the chick won. At least she asked my friggin' name. Albeit after I had done my job, so it hardly counted. You're all rude.

Signed, Sealed & Delivered by:

Nameless Guy

DoM All Ranks Tournament

By TERA STARFARE

I'm bringing you this one straight from the corkboard folks!

This evening we had a most wonderful All Ranks Tournament on the Isle. Twelve casters stepped up to compete, all meeting on the same level. I want to again thank everyone who participated and for those who came to cheer and spectate for making this such a wonderful event.

I want to also mention to everyone the sportsmanship displayed by Rakeesh. He could have kept his bye for the first round, but gracefully sacrificed it so that one late arrival could be in the tournament.

A thank you also to Gnimish who came to call the last two rounds.

The results:

After the first round we had to say good bye to Bran, Tass, Gnimish, Xerzes and Kaylin.

After the second round we had to say good bye to Wyheree, Rhaine and Kheldar.

Rena had earned the bye for round three. Russel and Esper dueled to see who won third prize and who would go on to duel Rena for the big purse. Esper left after round three, having placed third in the tournament.

Russel emerged as the winner of the second prize after the fourth round. Rena A Cronin won the tournament.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Topaz

DoM Coordinator.

Tower of Water Has New Keeper

By TERA STARFARE

I'm bringing to you from the corkboard with the round by round edited out folks as posted by Brig.

There was a good sized crowd for this challenge match, between the Ice Queen, Wyheree Ravenlock Black, and the old dragon Tasslehofl Momus. And an exciting match it was!

In the first duel, Tass showed his strength as keeper coming on strong and finishing off with a tidal wave of fury. Tass def. Wyh 5-2 in 8 rounds.

In the second duel, Wyh was the dominator, getting an early lead and not letting go. Wyh def. Tass 5-3 in 9 rounds.

So it came down to the final duel and it was a nail-biter! After 18 rounds, the score was 4.5-4.5! But Wyheree came out on top to win the duel and the key. Congratulations Wyheree on becoming the new Keeper of Water! Wyh def. Tass 5.5-4.5 in 19 rounds

IceDancer Changes Hands! Grayson vs Harris

By TERA STARFARE

I can't say it any better than Rory herself who officiated this one folks!

At nine in the evening of the first of April, Harris D'Artainian pressed challenge for IceDancer to its current holder, Grayson MacLeod. While Fists does not officially recognize ladies of honor, I would be completely remiss if I did not mention the two wonderful cheerleaders that were present. Taneth showed to lend Grayson some cuddly support while Harris's came in the form of beautiful Shey!

In the first duel, Grayson began by attempting to sweep in low but Harris's leading hand punch was quicker… well, to the punch! Grayson returned the favor the following round as he jabbed in for his own first point. And thus, with the score tied at one a piece, Harris attempted to draw Grayson out of position. The move didn't seem to work but didn't cost him anything either. Harris attempted to return to the quick, blunt, and to the point line of thought but Grayson thought that was so last week and avoided becoming a target. Grayson's lead did not sit well on Harris! Grayson leapt into the air but found himself right in the line of fire of Harris's jumpkick. In the sixth round, Harris brought back quick, blunt, and to the point with a jab. A lead was a difficult thing to hold in this match! Harris attempted to open his up a bit by dodging but Grayson's not to keen on that idea! Grayson's legsweep tied the score back up at 3 a piece. The boys both dropped into ducks but neither gained anything for it. Grayson used an arm to attemp to block Harris's kick but could not and Harris took back the one point lead. Grayson's looked for a bit more of those blunt attacks but, instead, Harris is concentrated low with a legsweep. The blow landed giving Harris the point. And with that, Harris took the first duel with a 5-3 win!

The first one started with Harris sweeping in low, looking to start the same way he ended the last. Grayson saw it coming and his leap earned him the opening point! The seesaw effect of the first duel returned once again. Harris snap kicked in and connected with a ducking Grayson. In the third round, Harris and Grayson brought one another down with matching leg sweeps. Grayson followed that up by attempting to trick Harris out of position. Unfortunately for Grayson, he just ended up getting punched. Harris pressed his advantage by getting away from Grayson's chop to take the 4-2 lead and put himself one point from the win. After two hardly fought matches, Harris and Grayson ended the challenge as all great challenges should end — with a pair of jabs!

And, thus, Harris D'Artainian bested Grayson MacLeod on this night and earned the right to become the holder of IceDancer.
